Health & Safety Officer
Locations: Cork / Limerick / Clare / Kerry
Permanent Role
€45,000 - €65,000 (DoE)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Officer to join a leading international civil engineering and construction company renowned for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across water, energy, and transportation sectors.

This role is particularly suited to candidates who have worked within civil engineering and utilities, with direct exposure to tank construction (underground/overground), wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), water treatment plants (WTP), PSCS duties, and roadworks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year’s industry experience in a Health & Safety role (essential).
  • Relevant third-level Health & Safety qualification (Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent).
  • Strong, demonstrable experience in at least some of the following areas (very important):
  • Tank Construction – underground / overground
  • WWTP – Waste Water Treatment Plants / WTP – Water Treatment Plants
  • PSCS
  • Civil Engineering & Utilities
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks to employees and contractors.
  • Review subcontractor Safety Statements and RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements).
  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits across projects.
  • Ensure compliance with current legislative health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of statutory inspections for plant, fleet, equipment, and site activities.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and issue project-specific Health & Safety Plans.
  • Support the implementation of the company’s Environmental, Health & Safety Statement.
  • Manage statutory notifications to the Health & Safety Authority, including incident and accident reports.
  • Attend and contribute to internal and external EHS meetings.
  • Ensure correct use and availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Provide guidance to site management on drafting and reviewing RAMS.
