Safety Manager – Civil Engineering Projects (Cork)

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Health and Safety Manager to support a major civil engineering project in Cork. The role will focus on driving high safety standards, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, and embedding a positive safety culture throughout the workforce.

This is a site-based position that requires strong communication skills, regular engagement with staff and subcontractors, and a proactive approach to risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee project-specific health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Carry out site inspections, audits, and walkdowns to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
• Provide training, safety inductions, and toolbox talks to employees and subcontractors.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, preparing detailed reports and corrective action plans.
• Promote safe working practices, ensuring correct use of equipment and PPE.
• Work closely with project managers and site teams to resolve safety concerns quickly and effectively.

Requirements

• NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent recognised safety qualification.
• Proven track record as a Safety Officer or Manager within civil engineering or construction.
• Strong knowledge of Irish HSE legislation and construction industry best practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
• Ability to prepare reports, statistics, and safety documentation with strong IT skills.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience preferred.
