Location: Midlands (office and site-based projects)
Hours: Full-Time, Permanent – 8:00 – 5pm (Monday to Friday)

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and strengthen the technical function within a busy civils contractor.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and oversight across a wide range of infrastructure projects, ensuring high-quality technical delivery, robust safety compliance, and the professional development of engineering staff. Projects include roads, utilities, groundworks, drainage, and large-scale public realm works.
This is a senior appointment, offering strong progression opportunities within a dynamic and fast-growing contractor.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage engineering teams across multiple civil projects
- Oversee setting-out, quality control, and technical assurance on site
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to site engineers and managers
- Review temporary works, method statements, and designs for compliance
- Liaise with design teams, consultants, and local authorities to resolve technical issues
- Contribute to tenders and pre-construction with methodologies and buildability advice
- Ensure compliance with Irish standards, contracts, and safety regulations (HSA, ISO)
- Drive continuous improvement and value engineering initiatives
- Foster a strong technical culture, supporting graduate and site engineers in development
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards chartership) with Engineers Ireland
- 10+ years’ experience in civil engineering, including 3+ years in a senior or managerial role
- Proven track record delivering infrastructure projects (roads, utilities, groundworks) in Ireland
- Strong knowledge of Irish design standards, Public Works Contracts, and NEC forms
- High level of proficiency in surveying equipment, AutoCAD, and project planning tools
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
