Senior Site Engineer / Project Manager – Civil Engineering
Location: Clare / Limerick (projects across Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, and South Galway)
Projects: Civils – Roads, Concreate, Solar Farms, Utilities
Hours: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: €70,000 – €90,000 DOE
Package: Vehicle & Fuel Card included, with further benefits discussed at interview stage

About the Role

Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Senior Site Engineer / Project Manager to join a well-established civil engineering contractor. Operating from site-based offices rather than a centralised head office, the company delivers a strong pipeline of projects including roadways, bridges, utilities, solar farm infrastructure, ducting, substations, and significant concrete works.

This role requires an experienced engineering professional who can oversee projects from setting out to stakeholder management, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.

The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of projects across Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, and South Galway, offering excellent scope and variety within a busy contractor (1/2 projects or several smaller works).  

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily site operations, ensuring quality and safety standards
• Carry out and check setting out for civil and concrete works
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and progress reporting
• Review design drawings and resolve technical queries on site
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
• Maintain strong communication with stakeholders and project teams
• Lead site meetings and provide updates to senior management
• Monitor progress to ensure projects are delivered on programme

Requirements

• Third-level qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• 7+ years’ experience on civil engineering projects in Ireland/UK
• Strong background in roadways, bridges, utilities, or concrete works
• Proven ability to manage projects from design to completion
• Confident in setting out and checking works for accuracy
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Full driver’s licence and willingness to travel between regional sites

Salary & Benefits

• €70k – €90k depending on experience
