Health & Safety Officer
Location: Cork / Limerick / Clare / Kerry
Permanent Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Officer to join a leading international civil engineering and construction company renowned for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across water, energy, and transportation sectors.

Due to continued growth and expansion, our client is seeking a proactive and motivated Health & Safety professional with some industry experience to strengthen their team. This is an excellent role for someone with 1–3 years of experience (or a strong graduate with relevant placements) who is eager to progress their career in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks to employees and contractors as required.
  • Conduct regular environmental, health, and safety inspections across site operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all current legislative health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of statutory inspections for plant, fleet, equipment, and site activities.
  • Keep training records for ongoing site activities current and compliant.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and issue project-specific Health & Safety Plans as required.
  • Support the implementation of the company’s Environmental, Health & Safety Statement and related procedures.
  • Manage and submit statutory notifications to the Health & Safety Authority, including incident and accident reports.
  • Attend and contribute to internal and external Environmental Health & Safety meetings.
  • Verify that appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is available and correctly used.
  • Review and monitor subcontractor Safety Statements and RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements).
  • Assist and advise site management on drafting, communicating, and reviewing RAMS.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in safety culture across all projects.

Requirements:

  • Relevant third-level Health & Safety qualification (e.g. Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent).
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within construction or civil engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage site teams.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and tools relevant to Health & Safety reporting.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
