Director – Project Management – Consultancy

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Director – Project Management to join a leading consultancy in South Dublin. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the company owners, responsible for overseeing a team of 6–7 Project Managers and managing a portfolio of high-profile projects across Ireland and internationally.
The consultancy delivers large-scale developments exceeding €100m+ in sectors such as pharmaceutical, healthcare, residential, commercial, and public works. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping strategy, client relationships, and project outcomes, while supporting the continued growth of the business.

Responsibilities
- Report directly to company owners, providing strategic input and oversight.
- Lead and manage a team of Project Managers across multiple live projects.
- Oversee projects through design, planning, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Deliver advice to clients on programme, costs, procurement, and project strategy.
- Chair and minute key project meetings, ensuring clarity and accountability.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality.
- Manage the appointment and performance of contractors and consultants.
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
- Travel to client sites to monitor project progress and provide senior leadership.
- Mentor and support the professional development of Project Managers within the team.
Requirements
- Degree in Construction, Engineering, Project Management, or Building Surveying.
- 15+ years’ experience in project management, ideally within Irish construction consultancy setting.
- Proven track record delivering projects exceeding €100m in Ireland/UK.
- Strong leadership background, reporting into senior leadership or ownership.
- Experience across pharma, healthcare, public works, mixed-use, and residential projects.
- Excellent technical appreciation of construction processes, documentation, and financials.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project or Primavera desirable.
- Familiarity with public procurement processes advantageous.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills.
