Job Description

Electrical Engineering Technician
�� Location: Naas, Co. Kildare
�� Salary: €45,000 – €48,000 (depending on experience) + 10% shift allowance (for evening shift)
⏰ Hours: Weekly rotation – Days (06:00–14:30) / Evenings (14:30–23:30)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Primary requirement: A relevant third-level qualification in Electrical Engineering or be a time-served Electrician.

  • Mechanical qualification/experience is an advantage but not essential.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role (planned & reactive).

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Experience with motor control systems, process temperature controls, pneumatics, and PLC/PC control systems.

  • Computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) experience desirable.

  • Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environmental legislation and Food Safety standards (BRC/ISO).

  • Flexible, adaptable, and strong team player with ability to work on own initiative.

Our client, a leading provider in the food production sector, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician to join their team in Naas, Co. Kildare. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a multi-disciplined maintenance team within a dynamic and growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide both reactive and planned maintenance support across the site.

  • Carry out installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of plant and equipment.

  • Execute preventive maintenance programs and support continuous improvement.

  • Troubleshoot using PLC programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, General Electric, Schneider Electric).

  • Provide technical support for plant facilities, including compressed air and refrigeration.

  • Support environmental, health & safety, and quality activities.

  • Assist with risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety standards (e.g., LOTO).

  • Oversee contractors and provide general maintenance support across process, HVAC, refrigeration, and packaging equipment.

  • Analyse downtime and implement effective strategies to improve uptime.
