Senior Professional Quantity Surveyor
Location: Kilkenny or Waterford (Hybrid post-onboarding)
Hours: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Senior PQS to join a well-established consultancy in the Southeast. This practice is known for its strong project portfolio across recreational, educational, and public sector works, while maintaining a modern and flexible approach.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing multiple projects, supporting client relationships, and mentoring junior team members. With structured progression routes, this role also offers a pathway to Associate level within the firm.

First project assignment will depend on the candidate’s sector expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost management across a diverse project portfolio
• Prepare BOQs, tender documents, and detailed cost plans
• Manage project budgets and provide accurate cost forecasting
• Deliver valuations, variations, and financial reporting to clients
• Work across RIAI and Public Works contracts as required
• Support and mentor junior surveyors within the team
• Maintain strong client communication and build long-term relationships
• Ensure compliance with best practice, governance, and professional standards
• Contribute to business development and practice growth

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
• 7+ years’ PQS or consultancy experience – open to Irish contracting experience
• Irish or UK industry experience essential
• Familiarity with Buildsoft Cubit and/or CostX desirable
• Strong knowledge of RIAI and/or Public Works Contracts advantageous
• Excellent commercial awareness and client-facing skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
