Senior Quantity Surveyor – High-Rise Steel Frame / RC Concrete
Location: Waterford City
Salary: €75,000 - €90,000 (D.O.E.)
Sector: Student Accommodation

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a long-established and reputable developer in the South-East. With almost four decades of building expertise, this company has delivered award-winning residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, and student accommodation projects.

This position will see you lead the commercial function on a landmark high-rise project involving steel frame or RC concrete structures. You will oversee financial and contractual delivery, ensuring robust cost management and best value. The role is based in Waterford City, with a strong pipeline of further large-scale local projects to follow.

This project will also have a Junior QS working alongside the incumbent for support. 

Salary & Benefits

Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial aspects of a high-rise construction project
  • Prepare and manage budgets, cost plans, and financial forecasts
  • Oversee procurement of subcontractors and suppliers for steel and RC packages
  • Assess and agree variations, progress claims, and final accounts
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with company procedures
  • Monitor project costs, risks, and implement effective cost controls
  • Provide accurate commercial reporting to senior management
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field (or trade background with strong QS experience)
  • 7+ years’ experience in a Senior QS role, ideally on steel frame or RC projects
  • Proven cost management, contract administration, and negotiation skills
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent reporting ability
  • Full Irish driver’s licence with flexibility for travel as required
  • Irish/UK market experience highly advantageous
