Business Development Representative - Cork City 

Summary


The Business Development Representative will help manage and grow the sales and commercial function of the business, a leading company in the fuels industry. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong communication and leadership skills, a focus on achieving targets, and the ability to drive high standards across the sales funnel. The successful candidate will embody core company values, foster a positive work culture, and inspire confidence in the brand through excellent service delivery.

Main Duties

  • Generate sales through outbound and inbound efforts

  • Conduct prospecting via cold calling, email, LinkedIn, and other sales tools

  • Act as the first point of contact for potential clients

  • Build marketing campaigns and understand the marketing funnel

  • Leverage email outreach to engage key decision-makers

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the service offering, industry trends, and competitive landscape

  • Gather and analyse market data to tailor sales approaches

  • Expand into new markets and support commercial negotiations

  • Meet and exceed monthly and quarterly sales and performance goals

  • Customise product/service solutions to meet client needs

  • Maintain and update the client database

  • Test and implement various prospecting tools and techniques

  • Network through face-to-face meetings and events

  • Innovate sales tactics to acquire new customers and improve retention

  • Conduct market analysis and integrate findings into the sales process

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment in customer communication

  • Spearhead marketing campaigns at regional and national levels

Requirements

  • Excellent communication, listening, negotiation, and presentation skills

  • Strong planning ability and forward-thinking mindset

  • Comfortable communicating with all levels, including executives

  • Able to develop and scale process improvements

  • Flexible, critical thinker with strong execution skills

  • Tech-savvy, with strong Microsoft Excel proficiency

  • Detail-oriented and diligent in record-keeping

  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Skilled at building and fostering internal and external relationships

  • Strong leadership and team development skills

  • Cool under pressure, accountable, and self-motivated

  • Open to change and continuous improvement

  • Results-driven with a growth mindset and passion for success

  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed

  • Degree in Business, Marketing, or Sales is advantageous

  • Experience in a low-margin, service-driven business is a plus
