Junior Site Engineer - Waterford
Location: Based in Waterford City (Projects across Wexford, Waterford, South Kilkenny, South Tipperary)

About the Role:
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Junior Site Engineer to join a well-established main contractor operating across the South East. The company delivers high-quality residential developments – both housing and apartment schemes – ranging from €3M to €20M in value.

The role is ideally suited to a Junior Engineer with 1–2 years' experience looking to grow with a supportive and forward-thinking contractor. Projects are all located within the Southeast region, with a strong base in Waterford City. You’ll receive full guidance from experienced Senior Engineers and Site Management while progressing your technical, quality, and site coordination skills.

Experience working on Residential or Building projects, in the Irish or UK Market is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with setting out on site using Total Stations & GPS (highly desirable)
• Support subcontractor supervision and daily activity coordination
• Assist with site record keeping, quality checks and material control
• Work closely with the Senior Engineer and Site Manager on day-to-day operations
• Help ensure compliance with design, safety, and programme requirements
• Conduct site measurements and maintain accurate records
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors where required
• Attend site meetings and report progress to the team
• Ensure technical drawings and specifications are correctly implemented on site

Requirements:

• Third-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, or similar
• 1+ year’s site-based experience, ideally in the Irish or UK market
• Proficient in setting out tools and software; Total Station & GPS skills highly desirable
• Knowledge of residential construction processes
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn from senior staff
• Full Irish driver’s licence
• Ability to travel to project sites across the South East region
