Quantity Surveyor – Civils & Groundworks
Location: Cavan (Office‑Based with Site Visits)
Hours: Full‑Time, Permanent
Sector: Civil Engineering – Renewable Infrastructure
Salary & Benefits: DOE (Open to Junior & Intermediate candidates) Further discussed over telephone call.

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team in Cavan. This is a civil contractor with a proven track record delivering major infrastructure for renewable energy systems including turbine bases, drainage networks, substation compounds, pumping stations and hydro-related civils.

The position is primarily office-based with regular travel to project sites throughout Ireland. Ideal for junior to intermediate candidates with civils experience, the role offers strong long-term progression and exposure to complex groundwork and infrastructure packages on high-value energy projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage subcontractor procurement and package administration
• Support project delivery through close collaboration with PMs
• Track budgets, cash flow, and prepare forecasts
• Oversee valuations, variations, and financial reporting
• Contribute to project risk assessment and mitigation
• Ensure timely submission of payment claims and approvals
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
• Maintain accurate contract records across multiple projects

Requirements

• Relevant third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar
• 2/3+ years’ experience, ideally with a Irish/UK contractor.
• Strong experience preparing subcontractor packages and procurement
• Proficient in financial reporting, CVRs, and budget forecasting
• Effective communication and strong commercial acumen
• Ability to multitask across various projects and deadlines
• Familiarity with civils contract types and frameworks
