Health and Safety Junior
Location: Waterford / Kilkenny

Optimize Recruitment is working with a leading company in Ireland to recruit a Junior Health and Safety Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual with around 6 months of experience in construction to develop their career in a supportive and progressive environment. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, this role offers hands-on exposure to safety operations across renewable energy and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the company’s Safety Management System.
• Assist in conducting site safety audits and inspections under the supervision of senior staff.
• Help coordinate safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel.
• Maintain safety documentation, including incident reports, risk assessments, and safety statements.
• Attend and take minutes at site safety meetings and support follow-up on action items.
• Support accident and incident investigations and contribute to safety improvement initiatives.
• Assist with reviewing sub-contractor safety documents and verifying compliance.
• Provide general administrative support to the Health and Safety team.

Ideal Candidate

• A relevant 3rd level qualification in Environmental Health and Safety (or currently pursuing).
• Approximately 6 months of practical experience in a construction environment.
• Strong interest in health and safety and a proactive attitude.
• Familiarity with basic safety regulations and documentation.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
