Maintenance Technician
Location: Portlaoise, Co. Laois
Salary: €42,000 per annum
Hours: Monday – Friday, Full-Time, No Weekends.
Contract Type: Permanent

We are working with a leading specialist in mechanical and electrical engineering services to recruit a Maintenance Technician for their growing operations in Portlaoise. This role is site-based and requires a hands-on technician with a strong understanding of maintenance best practices in a mechanical/electrical environment.

Requirements

• Trade qualification (e.g., Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent).

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a maintenance technician role, ideally within a similar industrial or manufacturing environment.

• Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.

• Knowledge of health & safety practices and procedures.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on plant equipment and systems.

  • Diagnose faults, repair equipment, and ensure all works are completed in a timely and safe manner.

  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.

  • Liaise with engineering and operations teams to ensure minimal downtime of equipment.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to enhanced operational efficiency.

  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company safety and quality standards.

  • Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery when required.
