Programme Scheduler/ Senior Project Planner – Renewable Projects
Location: Waterford
Salary: €75k – €90k+ (DOE)
Role Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Annual Leave: 28 days

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking an experienced Construction Programme Scheduler to join a specialist contractor based in Waterford.

Our client grown to become a key player in large-scale infrastructure across Ireland, with a dedicated focus on Greenfield site development and major substation works. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to renewable energy infrastructure projects with a strong team of Engineers and Project Managers already in place.

The role itself will be a standalone position, looking after the Planning for multiple projects concurrently across Ireland. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Construction Planning (renewables experience an advantage). Primavera P6 & MS Project experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed Tender Programmes for EPC bids using P6 or MS Project
  • Manage and issue construction programmes covering engineering to commissioning
  • Coordinate with engineers and site staff for monthly progress updates
  • Produce client reports including EVA, lookaheads, and delay tracking
  • Maintain labour and equipment schedules in line with project targets
  • Generate and maintain cash flow forecasts linked to programme progress
  • Integrate procurement timelines with construction schedules
  • Lead planning meetings and liaise across all project stakeholders
  • Maintain baseline schedules, revision logs, and control documentation
  • Support claims, risk analysis, and delay assessments where needed

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in construction, engineering, or project management
  • 3–5 years’ experience in construction planning (preferably utility-scale energy projects)
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 or advanced MS Project user
  • Solid understanding of project lifecycle from tender to commissioning
  • Experience working with FIDIC or EPC contract forms
  • Strong knowledge of resource planning and cost forecasting
  • Familiar with delay analysis and claims processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly proficient in Excel (S-curves, Gantt charts, reporting tools)
  • Irish or UK experience is highly advantageous
