Project Engineer – Civil Engineering
Location: Kilkenny City
Salary: €35,000 – €45,000+ (DOE)

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client – a key player in the power and utilities industry – are seeking a Civil Project Engineer to support the delivery of civils elements on energy infrastructure projects, primarily substations and related power works.

The role is based in Kilkenny City and will offer involvement in the full project lifecycle – planning, design coordination, execution, and contractor oversight. This is an ideal opportunity for a Civil Engineer with 2+ years of experience looking to step into a more hands-on project-focused role, with strong career development prospects in a growing sector. Experience in Ireland/U.K. and or Civils related projects advantageous. (open to graduate with strong placement experience in similar projects).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with daily project operations
• Oversee subcontractors and support operational supervision
• Manage material orders, goods receipts, and site consumption via ERP system
• Prepare site reports, material specs, calculations, and drawings
• Coordinate survey data and site investigations
• Ensure compliance with QA policies and client specifications

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a civil engineering role
• Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project
• Knowledge of ERP systems beneficial
• Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
