Site Engineer (Setting Out) – Groundworks & Utilities

About the Role

Optimize Recruitment, working closely with a well-established civils contractor, are seeking a Site Engineer (Setting Out) for upcoming (June) groundworks and utilities projects in the Leixlip and Blanchardstown areas. With works scheduled to commence shortly, this is a key opportunity to join a growing team delivering high-quality civil infrastructure projects. The company has a strong pipeline of works in Kildare and surrounding regions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee setting out duties using Total Stations and GPS equipment.
• Coordinate with site management and subcontractors on daily site activities.
• Ensure accuracy in levels, alignments, and as-built surveys.
• Support project delivery through effective planning and problem-solving.
• Maintain up-to-date site records, including RFI’s and method statements.
• Monitor site safety, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
• Liaise with design teams, utility providers, and client representatives.
• Provide technical support to site crews and junior team members.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in civils groundworks/utilities, ideally in Ireland/UK.
• Proficient in setting out with Total Stations & GPS equipment.
• Strong understanding of site safety procedures and quality standards.
• Effective communication and coordination skills.
• Full Irish Driving Licence essential.
• Irish/UK market experience highly advantageous.
