Senior / Mid Engineer / Project Manager
Location: Athlone
Salary: €65,000 – €75,000 (Depending on Experience)
Package: Company Vehicle & Fuel Card | Laptop & Phone Provided
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Annual Leave: 21 Days
Statutory Sick Pay | Pension (auto-enrolment or facilitated if set up)

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking an experienced Senior / Mid-Level Engineer or Project Manager for restoration works in Athlone. This is a key role within a long-established civil engineering contractor, offering a hands-on opportunity to manage site activities, coordinate project delivery, and ensure works are completed to the highest standard.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in overseeing restoration works, managing site teams, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily site activities, ensuring smooth coordination and project delivery
• Monitor programme progress, identify delays, and propose corrective actions
• Manage subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are delivered to specification
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards through regular site audits
• Track project costs, manage budgets, and report on commercial performance
• Identify project variations and negotiate additional costs where required
• Act as key liaison with clients, consultants, and internal management
• Lead project meetings, ensuring issues are resolved promptly
• Manage project documentation, including progress reports and health & safety records
• Support design coordination and address technical queries on-site

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in a similar engineering or project management role
• Strong background in civil engineering, ideally with restoration or utilities experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Full Irish driving licence
• Ability to manage site activities while liaising with clients and project stakeholders
