In this key leadership role, you will oversee and mentor a team of site-based safety professionals while ensuring high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across the project. Your proactive approach and knowledge of regulatory requirements will play a central part in fostering a culture of safety and accountability on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong guidance and supervision to project safety personnel across the site
- Drive the implementation and adherence to company-wide HSE standards and practices
- Perform regular inspections and audits, reporting observations to management for corrective actions
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready documentation aligned with both company and regulatory standards
- Ensure all required HSE documentation is up-to-date and properly communicated to relevant stakeholders
- Support project leadership with risk assessments, subcontractor evaluations, and reviews of health and safety plans
- Collaborate with managers in the delivery of training programs and toolbox talks as needed
- Take a leading role in incident investigation and ensure effective follow-up actions are implemented
- Liaise with statutory bodies such as the Health & Safety Authority (HSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- Contribute ideas for continuous improvement in site safety and environmental practices
- Participate in HSE project meetings and reviews, sharing insights and recommendations
- Champion a positive safety culture and communicate HSE best practices across all levels
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- A Level 8 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
- At least 8 years of relevant post-graduate experience in HSE roles within the construction industry
- Proven background operating at a senior level on large-scale building or infrastructure projects
- Chartered membership of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)
- In-depth understanding of OHSAS 45001 or equivalent health and safety management systems
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safety culture on-site
- Demonstrated experience managing serious incident investigations and implementing effective corrective actions
- Confident communicator who can engage with internal teams, subcontractors, and external regulatory bodies
