Health and Safety Junior / Officer
Location: Kilkenny (Regular Site Travel / South East)

Our client is a well-established and rapidly expanding civil engineering company renowned for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across Ireland. With a diverse, multidisciplinary team and a strong focus on career progression, the company provides a supportive and dynamic work environment. The role will be based primarily in Kilkenny, with regular travel to project sites across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain a proactive safety culture throughout project teams and work sites.
- Assist in the development and ongoing improvement of company-wide HSQE systems and procedures.
- Conduct regular on-site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure full compliance with safety legislation.
- Work closely with site management and project teams to ensure safety protocols are fully embedded and adhered to.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and coaching sessions to enhance awareness and understanding of health and safety practices.
- Monitor and report on performance metrics using digital EHS platforms, ensuring documentation is up-to-date and accurate.
- Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of ISO management systems and relevant accreditations.
- Provide guidance and practical support to site teams regarding safe systems of work and hazard identification.
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in the construction industry, preferably within civil engineering or utilities.
- Strong understanding of Irish HSQE regulations and relevant ISO standards.
- Proven ability to influence, engage and train a wide range of stakeholders, from operatives to senior management.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Capable of working independently and proactively addressing issues on-site.
- Full, clean driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly within the region.
