Senior Engineer – Waterford City – Educational Project
Location: Waterford City
Salary: €70k – €80k+ (DOE), along with Vehicle, Fuel Card, Pension, Healthcare

About the Role:
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join a major educational development project in Waterford City.

The project involves the construction of a substantial multi-storey educational facility, including teaching spaces, laboratories, workshops, and high-spec landscaping works, located within an established campus setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all works are carried out with the highest Health and Safety standards
  • Implement project-specific quality control and inspection procedures
  • Provide accurate setting-out information clearly to site teams
  • Review, critique, and coordinate construction designs and workshop drawings
  • Manage subcontractors and the general workforce on site
  • Plan works efficiently to meet programme targets and deadlines
  • Maintain detailed site records, documentation, and subcontractor communications
  • Order and monitor materials effectively to support project timelines

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or similar
  • 6+ years’ site engineering experience with a main contractor (ideally in Ireland or the UK)
  • Strong experience with Total Stations and GPS is highly desirable
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project planning software
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to work proactively with a strong understanding of construction processes
