Senior Estimator – Heavy Civils / Water Infrastructure
Location: Castlebar, Co. Mayo
Salary: €60,000 – €90,000 DOE + Package
Work Mode: Office-based (Hybrid option possible following onboarding)

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Senior Estimator to join a growing civil engineering contractor based in Mayo. The role is focused on major water and public realm infrastructure projects across Ireland. Reporting to the Bid Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate and competitive cost estimates for complex tenders within the civil and utilities sector.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in tender preparation for large-scale infrastructure projects, and a desire to progress within a collaborative and expanding business.

Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civils and water infrastructure projects
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents
• Support the Bid Manager with tender strategy and documentation
• Assist in value engineering and risk assessment exercises
• Ensure accurate pre-contract handovers to delivery teams
• Keep current on market rates, trends, and innovations
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes

Requirements
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or similar discipline
• Minimum 4+ years’ experience in estimating, ideally within the Irish or UK market
• Background in civil engineering projects – water or utilities highly desirable
• Strong commercial awareness and technical understanding
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
• Proficient in relevant estimating software
