Aquatic Ecologist
Galway / Hybrid / Remote

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Aquatic Ecologist to join our clients growing Ecology team and meet the increasing demand for the company’s services.

The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of projects in multiple sectors, including wind energy, drainage, road and infrastructure projects.

The key responsibilities associated with the role will include:

• Prepare, compile and project manage ecological assessments, including EIA’s, Habitats Directive Assessments, EIA Biodiversity chapters and aquatic baseline reports.
• Prepare scope of work and fee proposal documents for new projects.
• Undertake Aquatic ecological fieldwork and impact assessment reporting.
• Manage interactions with clients, project team members and sub-consultants.
• Liaise with relevant authorities and stakeholders.


Working as part of the Ecology team to deliver project the successful candidate would be expected to:
• 2+ years of post-graduate ecological experience, ideally in a consultancy environment.
• Hold an in-depth knowledge of various environmental issues fundamental to preparing high-quality ecological impact assessments.
• Previous freshwater ecological experience including but not limited to; electrofishing, kick sampling, fisheries habitat appraisal and river habitat assessment.
• Good report writing skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Manage small, medium and in-time large-scale projects from inception to completion.
• Excellent ecological field skills.
