An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Health and Safety Manager to join a leading manufacturing company, to recruit for the role of Health and Safety Manager. This company operates within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment and is renowned for its strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and product quality. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the EHS function, providing leadership in the absence of the EHS Manager.
- Lead the investigation and documentation of workplace accidents, near misses, and incidents; ensure the development and implementation of corrective actions.
- Review and update site safety documentation, including risk assessments, safety statements, procedures, and work instructions.
- Coordinate safety-related training programs, maintaining up-to-date training matrices and ensuring all compliance and development needs are met on schedule.
- Manage contractor safety programs in collaboration with the engineering team, including contractor induction, documentation checks, and on-site audits.
- Conduct regular internal audits and safety inspections, reporting findings and tracking the timely closure of any corrective actions.
- Support the development and delivery of EHS communications such as toolbox talks, safety alerts, and awareness campaigns to promote a strong safety-first culture.
- Monitor and analyse safety data and incident trends; report daily safety performance to the operations management team.
- Play a key role in preparing for and facilitating external compliance and regulatory audits.
- Lead initiatives to enhance the site's safety performance, working with teams to identify and implement improvements.
- Maintain and manage emergency preparedness programs, covering fire drills, chemical management, and workplace vehicle operations.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree (Level 8) in Health & Safety or a similar field.
- 1–3 years’ experience within manufacturing, industrial, construction or other high-risk sectors is preferred.
- Certified Manual Handling Instructor.
- Accredited Train the Trainer certification.
- Occupational First Aid certification.
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to engage across different levels of the organisation.
- Strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and a high level of competency in reporting.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and familiarity with EHS management systems.
- A self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a wider cross-functional team.
- Professional confidence to ensure EHS standards are consistently upheld.
