Project Manager – Renewable Energy Systems
Location: Waterford
Sector: Energy Systems
Role Type: Full-Time
Mode: Based in-office with 1/2 days on site
Salary: Depending on Experience

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, is seeking a Project Manager to oversee the delivery of Solar farm projects across Munster (Cork Initally). The company is a well-established energy contractor delivering high-spec infrastructure and utility-scale projects. Reporting to the Contracts Manager/Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading projects from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance are met. This is a full-time permanent role offering long-term career development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the key liaison between client, contractors, and internal teams
  • Oversee projects from pre-construction through commissioning and handover
  • Lead multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors on all project phases
  • Manage programmes, budgets, and key deliverables
  • Track costs, identify savings, and control financial performance
  • Ensure full compliance with HSEQ standards and regulations
  • Coordinate procurement, design, and installation schedules
  • Mitigate risks through proactive planning and contingency measures
  • Conduct quality checks and ensure works meet contractual requirements
  • Participate in internal project reviews and continuous improvement sessions

Requirements

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Energy Systems, or similar
  • 5+ years' project management experience on large-scale construction projects
  • Experience with solar or energy infrastructure highly desirable
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and communication capabilities
  • Proficient in project planning tools (Primavera, MS Project etc.)
  • Ability to manage on-site and remote teams effectively
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide
