Senior Site Engineer – Pharma (Build & Fit-Out) – Athenry, Galway

About the Company

Our client is a leading contractor delivering high-profile pharmaceutical and industrial projects across Ireland. They are currently involved in a major pharmaceutical facility development in Athenry, Galway, and are seeking an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join their team for the building and fit-out phases of the project.

Role Overview

This role involves managing the engineering and technical aspects of the project, ensuring subcontractor coordination and maintaining high quality and compliance standards. The focus is on overseeing subcontractors, ensuring structural and fit-out works are delivered to specification and within programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise subcontractors, ensuring all work meets quality, safety, and schedule standards.
• Oversee the engineering elements of the project, including both building and fit-out phases.
• Coordinate with site management, design teams, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Review setting out works conducted by Site Engineers, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
• Maintain engineering documentation, including quality reports, progress updates, and as-built records.

Experience & Requirements

• 7+ years' experience in a Senior Site Engineer role, ideally within pharmaceutical, industrial, or high-spec fit-out projects, with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor; Irish/UK experience is highly advantageous.
• Strong experience in structural and fit-out engineering, with the ability to oversee and verify setting out by Site Engineers.
• A third-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, OR a strong trade background.
• Proven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple workstreams on complex sites.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to problem-solve and make informed decisions on-site.
• Knowledge of Irish building regulations, quality standards, and H&S compliance.
