Optimize Recruitment is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our client, a leading civil engineering contractor delivering critical water infrastructure projects across Ireland. This role is site-based in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, working on a large-scale 15km water mains and commissioning project, providing a new water source for the town. The project includes pumping stations, residential and commercial infrastructure upgrades, and collaboration with Irish Water.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong setting out experience and a background in water infrastructure, utilities, or M&E to develop within one of Ireland’s fastest-growing civil engineering companies.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in site engineering, setting out, and quality control, ensuring that all works are delivered to the highest standards while liaising with project teams and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting out and surveying using GPS, GNSS, and Total Stations to ensure accuracy.
• Overseeing the installation, commissioning, and testing of water mains and pumping stations.
• Coordinating site activities, managing subcontractors, and liaising with Irish Water and other key stakeholders.
• Ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality control, and health & safety regulations.
• Conducting as-built surveys, cube testing, and maintaining accurate site records.
• Supporting the M&E aspects of the project, including integration with infrastructure systems.
• Providing regular updates and progress reports to the Project Manager.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in civil engineering, ideally within water infrastructure, utilities, or M&E-related projects.
• Previous experience in Ireland/UK is desired.
• Strong experience in setting out using GPS, GNSS, and Total Stations.
• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and site surveying tools.
• Experience working alongside clients, subcontractors, and the public.
• Excellent problem-solving, record-keeping, and communication skills.
• Full Irish driving licence.
