Principal Hydroecologist – Cork / Hybrid

Leading Environmental consultancy has an opportunity for an experienced Hydroecologist to join their team.

The successful individual will understand:
• Freshwater ecology in Ireland (or similar climates)
• The Water Framework Directive, i.e.
 Macroinvertebrates as indicators of pollution (drought, flow, sedimentation)
 Macrophytes
 Algae and Diatoms
 Fish
• Impacts of changes in flow, water quality (nutrients, organics, other chemicals), sedimentation, floods and droughts, channel structure
• Ability to use or understand common metrics, e.g. Q score, SSRS, fish data, macrophyte/algae data

The successful individual will ideally have the following:
• Minimum of relevant degree qualification, ideally chartered status: Ecologist. Scientist, Environmentalist.
• 7+ years’ experience, with ideally experience in a consultancy environment during career to date.
• Experience of proposal and tender writing and winning.
• Strong statistical and/or modeller experience
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Full Irish / EU driving licence.

This opportunity is predominantly office / hybrid based – travel to sites is not a major element of this role.
