Job Description
Ecologist – Galway / HybridJoining an award-winning consultancy, the successful individual will be capable of organising and managing ecological input to environmental projects.Working alongside engineers, environmental scientists on a portfolio of projects in Ireland, particularly in the infrastructure, water, energy and transport sectors.Responsibilities & requirements of the role will include:
- Degree in ecology or related subject.
- Membership of relevant professional body is desirable (e.g. CIEEM, or equivalent professional body).
- Minimum of 2+ years relevant post-graduate experience within a consultancy environment.
- Experience in the preparation of reports to required best practice standards, including Appropriate Assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), and biodiversity chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR).
- Knowledge of managing data using GIS (QGIS, MapInfo or ArcGIS) is advantageous.
- Experience in undertaking ecological field surveys
- Full clean driver's licence.
Supporting Senior Consultants and PMs in the delivery of key projects, the successful individual will have strong organisational, technical, numerical and communication skills and can demonstrate logical thinking and concise reporting.Has strong field skills.This opportunity is open to ecologists who specialise in either terrestrial or freshwater skills. However, competency in habitats / botany, ornithology, terrestrial mammals, and / or bats would be advantageous.Excellent benefits on offer to the successful individual. Full details available.
