Optimize Recruitment are working with a well-established company with almost 30 years’ experience within the industry and are looking to recruit a Construction Plant Fitter on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Construction Plant Fitter will be responsible for carrying out scheduled services and repairs to large and small engines, both on and off-site.
Job Purpose
Responsible for repairing machinery and equipment and ensuring it is safe for use by undertaking servicing and maintenance often using specialist equipment. Maintaining and repairing the equipment at a standard that the company has set. Responsible for planning, managing and conducting thorough examinations of equipment. Responsible for inspecting machinery and equipment and ensuring it is safe for use by repairing and maintaining, undertaking servicing and maintenance often using specialist equipment. Responsible for carrying out and signing off the inspection in accordance with Health and Safety guidance.
Key Skills & Duties
- Ensure that equipment is maintained and repaired to required organisational and legislative standard
- Inspect machines for defects and carry out the servicing, maintenance and repair of components of the machines
- Reassembling and testing components to ensure they are working safely
- Performing checks on new equipment before first use
- Using reports to diagnose faults
- Updating service records
- Use of a wide range of specialist tools such as hydraulic presses
- Keeping the workshop area clean and tidy
- Follow all H&S procedures
- Basic welding
- Using lifting equipment in accordance with GA1 regulations
- PPE guidance followed at all times
- Attend manufacturers training courses both within Ireland and abroad as required
- Liaise with machinery checkers regarding consistent faults and advise ways of remediating
- Support and assist with training apprentices and trainees.
- Maintain a high level of customer service
- Ensure that all administration processes are completed in accordance with required standards.
- Ensure that stock levels are maintained and monitored
Qualifications & Experience –
- Apprenticeship in Construction Plant Fitter or equivalent industry experience in a similar role (e.g. farming equipment).
- Extensive experience of diagnosing and repairing plant / machinery is essential
- Significant track record of diagnosing faults
- Significant experience of hydraulic systems
- Significant experience of electrics for plant and machinery
- Signiant experience of use of large workshop equipment
- Manufacturer training courses for industry product e.g. JLG, Genie, Manitou - Fork Lift Truck qualification (desirable)
- Safe pass
- Full clean ROI license
