Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant

We are working with a reputable environmental consultancy that excels in offering a wide range of specialized services, including environmental management, air quality assessment, acoustics, and risk analysis. This consultancy supports a diverse client base spanning the industrial, private, and public sectors across Ireland and Europe, delivering tailored solutions that align with rigorous environmental and regulatory standards. With a strong focus on high-stakes sectors like pharmaceuticals, data centers, and infrastructure, they assist clients in achieving regulatory compliance and advancing environmental sustainability through a collaborative, forward-thinking approach.

The ideal candidate will spearhead a variety of complex and stimulating projects across diverse sectors, including data centers, pharmaceutical facilities, large-scale residential developments, and commercial properties.
Joining a multidisciplinary group of environmental consultants, geologists, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists, the successful applicant will be instrumental in ensuring project excellence.

Candidates should demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities, a strong drive, and the capability to thrive in a collaborative environment. A well-rounded expertise in both technical and project management areas, along with outstanding communication skills, is essential for effectively managing and delivering multifaceted projects.

As a Senior or Principal, the successful candidate will take charge of:

  • Managing and directing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports and applications for Industrial Emission (IE) Directive Licences.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to team members and external consultants, maintaining high standards of project quality and efficient delivery.
  • Leading complex projects and programs, including post-approval support and strategic oversight.
  • Preparing technical documents, including EIA scoping and screening reports, Human Health Impact Assessments, Operational Reports, and expert technical opinions.
  • Engaging with clients, regulatory authorities, external stakeholders, and subcontractors to ensure full compliance with project requirements.
  • Developing proposals and strategic plans to meet and anticipate the evolving needs of clients.

Key Qualifications and Expertise Needed:

  • A bachelor's degree (BSc or BA Hons) in Environmental Science or a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the environmental sector, demonstrating a strong foundation in industry knowledge.
  • Proven success in preparing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and/or EPA Industrial Emissions Licensing, with a track record of thorough, high-quality work.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and self-motivation, with the ability to independently lead projects and initiatives.
  • Meticulous attention to detail along with advanced report writing and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and present clear, actionable insights.
  • Adaptability to tight deadlines and evolving project needs, managing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that support both independent work and effective team collaboration.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ensuring efficient and professional project deliverables.

Desirable:

  • Professional chartership with a recognized environmental organization (e.g., IEMA, IEI, IGI, CIWM, CIWEM)
  • Over 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in developing Environmental Liability Risk Assessments, Closure Restoration Plans, and Aftercare Management Plans following the latest guidelines
  • Skilled in managing environmental monitoring programs (such as water, effluent, and discharge licenses) and preparing routine compliance reports
  • Background in site inspections or environmental audits
  • Valid, clean driving license
