Senior Site Engineer
Main Contractor
Major Rail Project - Cork City

Optimize, partnering with a leading Irish Main Contractor, is seeking a Senior Site Engineer for a major rail project in Cork. This project will enhance commuter services to Cork city by increasing frequency through the installation of a second track, signalling upgrades, and bridge modifications. The project is set to commence shortly, with completion expected in two years.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all works are executed to the highest Health and Safety standards, taking personal responsibility for safety on-site.
• Oversee the quality of work, adhering to quality control procedures and project-specific requirements.
• Provide clear and accessible setting-out information to foremen and operatives on-site.
• Foster strong working relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, and design teams, ensuring smooth coordination.
• Review detailed design information and communicate effectively with designers to ensure design adequacy for construction.
• Manage the development of workshop drawings and technical details from subcontractors.
• Supervise and manage subcontractors and the general workforce on-site, ensuring efficient work planning to meet programme targets.
• Maintain site records, including logs of meetings and discussions with designers and subcontractors.
• Contribute to project profitability through accuracy, elimination of re-work, and strong contractual awareness.

Requirements:

• A degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Senior Engineer on civil engineering projects.
• Experience working with a main contractor, subcontractor, or surveying firm.
• Solid understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
• Strong communication skills, capable of liaising with site teams and management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
• A proactive and driven individual, with strong construction knowledge and a desire for progress.
