Operations Manager – Civils (Southeast Ireland)

Optimize are proud to be partnering with a family owned and operated Civil Engineering company that was established in the 1970’s.
Our client is in an exciting phase of growth and development and is seeking to recruit a Senior individual to aid the further expansion and development of the business, based in County Kilkenny (Office easily accessible from Waterford & Tipperary) but operating across the South-East and adjoining counties.

As a leading principal contractor of civil engineering projects in Ireland and our client has been involved in significant civil engineering projects spanning areas such as water & sewer mains installation, demolition, and building.

The successful individual will ideally have the following:

  • 2+ years of experience in similar environment or an ambitious individual who is seeking to take on a more senior role, having a greater impact on the day-to-day management of an expanding business.
  • Qualification in Civil Engineering or related technical qualification.
  • The ability to manage a project independently from conception to completion/handover.
  • Excellent business acumen with strong managerial skillsets.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office with a particular emphasis on Excel and cloud-based applications such as SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated track record of contract delivery.
  • Excellent knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in civil engineering projects spanning areas such as water and sewer mains installation, demolition, and building.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of civil engineering principles.

As a member of the management team, the successful Manager will take a leading role in directing strategic and operational activities in their area. The management team will work together to fulfil both day-to-day operational activities, and longer-term strategic objectives and business activities.

Reporting to the MD, the duties of the role will include:

  • Taking a hands-on approach in managing technical and contractual matters.
  • Making decisions independently in order to get projects completed, in accordance with company policies & procedures.
  • Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with contract schedules and specifications.
  • Collaborating with other team members to determine and implement project specifications across the life cycle of projects from tender to delivery.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Delivering high-quality projects safely and on programme whilst always focusing on the highest standards of workmanship.
  • Contributing to budget estimates and progress reports.
