Translator / Interpreter

Location: Scunthorpe and surrounding areas
Contract Type: Temporary / Casual
Hours: No guaranteed hours. Assignments are offered on an ad hoc basis.
Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour

About the Role

Successful candidates will provide translation and interpretation services through written documents, telephone calls, Microsoft Teams meetings and face-to-face appointments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accurate interpretation and translation services between English and your chosen language(s).
• Support customers during appointments, meetings, assessments and other communications.
• Translate written documents and correspondence as required.
• Ensure information is communicated clearly, accurately and sensitively.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
• Complete any records and documentation relating to interpretation and translation services.
• Represent Ongo professionally and respectfully at all times.

Essential Requirements

• Fluency in English and at least one of the languages listed above.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
• Reliable, flexible and capable of working independently.
• Access to a vehicle and the ability to travel to appointments across the local area.

Desirable

• Previous experience in translation and/or interpretation.
• Relevant language, translation or interpretation qualifications.
• Knowledge of housing, health, social care or community services.

Working Arrangements

This is a temporary, casual position with no fixed working hours. Assignments are offered on an ad hoc basis and are dependent on customer needs and language requirements.

There is no guarantee of regular work, and the frequency and duration of assignments will vary.
