Job Description

Where Every Sample Has a Story - And You Help Keep It Moving

Quality Control Technician

What happens when a sample enters a busy biopharmaceutical laboratory?

It needs to be logged, tracked, processed, distributed, documented and ultimately closed out - accurately, efficiently, and in line with strict quality standards.

That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a Quality Control Technician to join a GMP-regulated biopharmaceutical environment in Carlow, where you’ll play a hands-on role in managing the full sample lifecycle. Using LIMS/GLIMS, you’ll help keep samples moving through the right processes, coordinate external laboratory shipments, manage competing priorities and work alongside teams across Quality, QC and Manufacturing.

If you enjoy organisation, problem-solving, quality and keeping complex processes running smoothly, this could be a great opportunity to put those skills to work.

Your day-to-day: keeping quality moving

You’ll be at the centre of sample coordination, making sure the right samples get to the right place at the right time:

  • Manage the complete sample lifecycle using GLIMS, from receipt and logging through to disposal
  • Coordinate and prioritise sample workloads to keep activities on track
  • Arrange sample shipments to external laboratories and sister sites
  • Manage retain samples in line with the applicable programme
  • Maintain compliance with GMP, GDP and data integrity requirements
  • Support deviations, investigations and root-cause activities
  • Assist with SOPs, procedures and quality documentation
  • Support quality activities connected to manufacturing, testing and material/product release
  • Work closely with QC, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, External Quality and other stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and reliability

Could this be your next move?

You don't need to tick every box. What matters is having the right foundation and the confidence to work in a structured, quality-focused environment.

Your experience could include:

  • Working with LIMS or similar laboratory systems
  • Sample coordination, tracking or management
  • GLIMS experience
  • Working within a GMP-regulated environment
  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology or laboratory experience
  • Retain sample management
  • Coordinating external laboratory activities
  • Deviations, investigations, SOPs or quality systems
  • Managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Working confidently with different teams and stakeholders

A third-level qualification in Science or Engineering is beneficial, but not essential. Relevant industry experience or a Leaving Certificate may also be considered.

Why this one is worth a look

This isn't simply a role where you're processing samples and moving on to the next task.

You'll gain exposure to the full sample lifecycle, laboratory systems, GMP quality requirements, external laboratory coordination and cross-functional pharmaceutical operations.

You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement, helping make processes more efficient and reliable along the way.

And if you're looking for a structured working pattern, this one comes with Monday–Friday hours and no shift work.
