The Opportunity

A leading manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability & Maintenance Manager to join its site leadership team. This is a high-impact role responsible for driving engineering excellence, asset reliability, maintenance strategy, and operational performance across a large-scale manufacturing operation.

You will lead a team of maintenance managers and technical specialists, ensuring maximum equipment uptime, continuous improvement, and full compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Asset Reliability

  • Lead the site maintenance and asset reliability strategy.
  • Drive equipment uptime and reduce manufacturing interruptions.
  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programmes.
  • Ensure effective asset lifecycle management and spare parts optimisation.
  • Deliver continuous improvements in reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Own site engineering standards, maintenance systems, and business continuity plans.

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance managers, engineers, and technical specialists.
  • Create a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance.
  • Build strong relationships across operations, quality, safety, and engineering functions.
  • Support change management initiatives and drive continuous improvement activities.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, and legal requirements.
  • Maintain engineering compliance across manufacturing assets and automation systems.
  • Manage contractors and external service providers safely and effectively.
  • Establish robust governance and reporting structures for engineering performance.

Financial & Strategic Leadership

  • Manage engineering budgets and capital expenditure projects.
  • Support delivery of site objectives across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Sustainability, and People metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency gains, and operational improvements.
  • Contribute as a key member of the site leadership team.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Significant engineering leadership experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, food, beverage, consumer goods, pharmaceutical, or similar production environment.
  • Proven experience managing maintenance teams and developing technical talent.
  • Strong track record of improving equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Experience implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Budget management and capital project delivery experience.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning, asset management, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Technical Expertise

  • Engineering qualification or recognised trade background with extensive industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance systems and asset management tools (SAP PM or equivalent).
  • Experience with TPM, Reliability Engineering, Condition-Based Monitoring, or Predictive Maintenance programmes.
  • Good understanding of automation and modern manufacturing technologies.

Leadership Skills

  • Strong people leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to influence and drive change within a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating within a fast-paced, performance-driven culture.
