Job Description
Step Into a Hands-On Engineering Career at the Heart of Manufacturing Excellence
Junior Project Engineer - Mechanical Engineering (Graduate Level)
Imagine being part of an engineering team where every project you support directly improves how complex manufacturing operations run - enhancing safety, reliability, efficiency, and performance across multiple production sites. This is where engineering theory meets real-world impact, and where your development is structured, supported, and fast-tracked.
This opportunity sits within a dynamic, multi-site manufacturing environment where precision engineering, strong collaboration, and continuous improvement are essential. You will work alongside experienced engineers, maintenance teams, and contractors, gaining exposure to both day-to-day operational challenges and larger capital project delivery.
What you’ll achieve (and why it matters):
Build your engineering foundation while contributing directly to the performance of industrial manufacturing systems:
- Support the delivery of engineering projects from early design through to installation and commissioning
- Work alongside site teams and contractors to assist with equipment installation and commissioning activities
- Contribute to the preparation of technical drawings, documentation, and project deliverables aligned with engineering standards and specifications
- Assist in identifying recurring equipment issues and support root cause analysis and corrective improvements
- Take on delegated engineering tasks from project and engineering managers to build hands-on experience
- Collaborate across multiple sites on shared engineering initiatives and standardisation efforts
- Support maintenance and reliability teams in improving equipment uptime and basic fault finding
- Assist in Capex tracking, documentation, reporting, and project governance activities
- Support cost tracking, budget monitoring, and project controls under supervision
- Participate in installation inspections to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards
- Support preventative maintenance systems and contribute to engineering best practices
- Gather and analyse engineering data to support reporting and decision-making
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards at all times
- Participate in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 compliance and training activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives across manufacturing sites
Your edge (desired, not required):
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline
- 1 - 2 years of relevant industrial/manufacturing experience
- Basic ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings
- Exposure to CAD or similar engineering design tools
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Basic understanding of core mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and general engineering tools
- Interest in project delivery, manufacturing systems, and industrial engineering environments
- Exposure to health & safety principles in an industrial setting (advantageous)
- Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, or installation work (beneficial but not essential)
Why this role matters:
This is a development-focused engineering role designed to give you real exposure to manufacturing operations, capital projects, and industrial systems. You won’t be observing from the sidelines - you’ll be actively contributing to projects that improve how complex manufacturing environments operate every day, while building a strong foundation for a long-term engineering career.
