QC Analyst – Quality Operations Laboratory

This is an opportunity to join a growing Quality Operations Laboratory within a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, supporting the analytical testing and release of biologics and vaccines. Working in a highly regulated GMP environment, you'll gain hands-on experience with advanced analytical techniques while contributing to commercial testing, method transfers, validation activities, laboratory investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This isn't simply a laboratory testing role. We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding the science behind analytical methods, solving laboratory challenges, maintaining exceptional quality standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of pharmaceutical quality systems.

What you'll achieve (and why it matters)

• Perform analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished biologic and vaccine products in accordance with cGMP and cGLP requirements.
• Apply a range of analytical techniques, including HPLC (HIC, IEX, HP-SEC), ELISA, cell-based assays, cell culture, capillary electrophoresis, and other compendial methods.
• Support analytical method transfers and method validation activities as new products and processes are introduced.
• Generate high-quality analytical data that supports the release of life-changing medicines.
• Review laboratory documentation to ensure data integrity and Right First Time (RFT) quality standards are consistently achieved.
• Participate in Out of Specification (OOS) investigations, laboratory deviations, and root cause analysis activities.
• Contribute to laboratory readiness for internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
• Assist in preparing, reviewing, and maintaining SOPs, laboratory procedures, training documentation, and controlled quality documents.
• Participate in daily laboratory meetings, communicating testing progress, priorities, and quality issues.
• Apply structured problem-solving tools such as FMEA, Fishbone Analysis, and 5 Whys to identify improvements and resolve laboratory issues.
• Work collaboratively with Quality, Manufacturing, Technical Operations, and cross-functional teams to support a safe, compliant, and efficient laboratory environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance laboratory performance, compliance, and operational excellence.

Your edge (desired, not required)

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or another relevant scientific discipline.
• Approximately 2–3 years' experience within a pharmaceutical quality control laboratory.
• Hands-on experience using HPLC and other analytical instrumentation.
• Experience performing pharmaceutical product release testing.
• Knowledge of ELISA, immunoassays, cell-based assays, cell culture, or capillary electrophoresis would be advantageous.
• Experience supporting analytical method transfers and method validation.
• Good understanding of cGMP, GLP, and pharmaceutical Quality Management Systems.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory documentation, data integrity, and GDP principles.
• Experience participating in OOS investigations and laboratory deviation management.
• Exposure to regulatory inspections and laboratory audits.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative laboratory environment.
• Flexibility to work a rotating two-cycle shift pattern.
