This is an excellent opportunity to bring your leadership experience, SEND expertise and passion for teaching to a rewarding, hands-on role where you can make a real difference.
We are looking for a confident, approachable and committed education professional who can provide strong leadership while remaining actively involved in teaching and supporting pupils with complex additional needs.
This is a hands-on leadership position, and the successful candidate must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and be willing to undertake classroom teaching responsibilities alongside their leadership duties.
Working closely with the Headteacher, you will play an important role in maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and school improvement throughout the maternity cover period.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Headteacher with the day-to-day leadership and management of the school.
Leading and supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the provision.
Undertaking classroom teaching responsibilities as required.
Supporting, mentoring and developing teaching and support staff.
Monitoring pupil progress, achievement and individual learning outcomes.
Contributing to curriculum development, ensuring learning is appropriately differentiated to meet a wide range of SEND needs.
Supporting school improvement priorities and maintaining high educational standards.
Promoting positive behaviour, inclusion, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Working collaboratively with parents, carers, multidisciplinary teams and external professionals.
Ensuring safeguarding and pupil welfare remain central to school practice.
We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced SEND professionals who can confidently balance leadership responsibilities with practical classroom delivery.
Essential requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Significant experience working within specialist SEND education.
Experience supporting pupils with complex learning needs, autism, physical disabilities and/or additional health needs.
Strong understanding of SEND legislation, safeguarding and inclusive education.
Experience of curriculum planning, assessment and differentiated teaching.
Proven ability to lead, motivate and support colleagues.
Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
A flexible, proactive and practical approach to school leadership.
A genuine willingness to teach and remain actively involved in classroom practice.
Availability to start as soon as possible.
Previous experience as a Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher or senior SEND leader would be particularly advantageous.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution within a specialist school where every pupil's achievements, personal development and independence are valued.
You'll have the chance to support a dedicated team, influence teaching and learning and play an important part in maintaining a positive and supportive school environment.
For an experienced leader who enjoys being visible, approachable and involved in all aspects of school life, this is a particularly rewarding opportunity.
With an ASAP start, we are keen to speak with suitable candidates immediately.
If you're an experienced SEND professional with QTS, strong leadership skills and a passion for making a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
