Job Description

Are you a strong, visible school leader with a proven track record of improving behaviour and raising standards?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Vice Principal to join a secondary school in Bradford, taking a leading role in strengthening behaviour, building a positive learning environment and supporting whole-school improvement.

This is a full-time, temporary-to-permanent opportunity for an experienced leader ready to make an immediate impact.

The Role

Working closely with the Principal and wider Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in driving improvements in behaviour, attitudes and the overall culture of the school.

We are looking for someone who can lead from the front, establish clear expectations and support staff in creating a consistent, positive and purposeful learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the school's whole-school behaviour strategy, ensuring consistency and high expectations.

  • Supporting and developing pastoral teams, Heads of Year and teaching staff to improve behaviour and pupil engagement.

  • Reviewing and strengthening behaviour policies, systems and procedures.

  • Driving improvements in attendance, punctuality, attitudes to learning and pupil conduct.

  • Overseeing complex behavioural incidents, suspensions and reintegration processes.

  • Supporting vulnerable pupils, including those with SEND and additional pastoral needs.

  • Building positive relationships with parents, carers and external agencies to address barriers to learning.

  • Coaching and supporting staff to develop confidence and consistency in behaviour management.

  • Contributing to wider school improvement priorities as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

About You

We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced Vice Principals, Deputy Headteachers, Assistant Principals or Assistant Headteachers who have successfully led improvements in behaviour, pastoral provision or school culture.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have significant senior leadership experience within a secondary school setting.

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of improving behaviour, attitudes and school culture.

  • Be a confident, visible and approachable leader who can establish high expectations across the school.

  • Have experience leading, managing and developing staff teams.

  • Possess a strong understanding of safeguarding, inclusion and pastoral systems.

  • Be resilient, proactive and confident in managing challenging situations.

  • Balance high standards and accountability with an inclusive and supportive approach.

  • Have the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

  • Be available to take up a full-time position at short notice.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and experienced school leader who enjoys making a tangible difference.

You'll have the opportunity to influence whole-school behaviour and culture, support staff development and contribute directly to improving outcomes for young people.

The role will initially be offered on a temporary basis, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent, making it an attractive opportunity for someone looking to secure their next long-term senior leadership position.

Interested?

If you're an experienced senior leader with a passion for behaviour, inclusion and school improvement, we'd love to hear from you.
