MAT Recruitment is working on behalf of a school in Enfield to appoint a talented, values-driven Assistant Principal to join its senior leadership team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and ambitious school leader to take on a key strategic role, supporting whole-school improvement and helping to secure the highest standards of education, teaching, learning and outcomes.
The role is not phase-specific, and applications are welcomed from both Primary and Secondary-trained leaders. However, the successful candidate is likely to have a focus on Secondary.
The Role
As Assistant Principal, you will play a central role in shaping school improvement priorities and supporting high expectations across the school. You will work collaboratively with senior leaders, staff, students and the wider community to drive standards, strengthen teaching and learning, and support positive outcomes for all pupils.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Setting ambitious expectations and targets that contribute to school improvement
- Using assessment and performance data to evaluate progress and identify areas for intervention
- Raising the quality of teaching and learning through coaching, mentoring and evidence-informed practice
- Leading change effectively and contributing to improvement planning and self-evaluation
- Line managing and developing staff, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement
- Supporting high standards of behaviour, personal development and wellbeing
- Building effective partnerships with families and the wider community
The Successful Candidate
We are looking for a reflective, resilient and committed leader who can demonstrate:
- A successful teaching track record with evidence of strong classroom practice
- Leadership experience in a school or academy setting
- Proven impact on raising achievement and improving outcomes
- Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum
- Confidence in using assessment and data to drive improvement
- The ability to motivate, challenge and support staff and students
- Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
