In this permanent role, you’ll shape the next generation of digital talent by delivering engaging IT and Business Teacher in a supportive Manchester school. About the Role:
You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality IT and Business lessons across relevant key stages, ensuring students develop both theoretical understanding and practical digital skills. Working as part of a committed department, you will contribute to curriculum development, assessment strategies, and whole-school initiatives that drive progress and attainment. Your work will have a direct impact on student outcomes, progression pathways, and their readiness for further education or employment in the digital and business sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging IT and Business lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and national standards.
- Implement effective classroom management and behaviour support strategies to maintain a positive, focused learning environment.
- Design and adapt schemes of work and lesson resources to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with additional needs and high prior attainment.
- Deliver programming and coding instruction using appropriate languages, tools, and platforms to build students’ practical digital skills.
- Use differentiated instruction techniques to support individual learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students are challenged and supported.
- Develop and implement a range of formative and summative assessments to measure progress and inform teaching.
- Analyse assessment data to identify trends, track pupil progress, and plan targeted interventions.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to promote student engagement, progress, and positive behaviour.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience teaching IT and Business in a school setting, ideally across multiple key stages.
- Strong classroom management skills with a track record of effective behaviour support.
- Demonstrable experience in curriculum planning and lesson design for IT and Business subjects.
- Ability to deliver clear, structured programming and coding instruction to secondary-age learners.
- Skilled in differentiated instruction to support mixed-ability classes and diverse learning needs.
- Experience designing and using assessments to monitor progress and inform teaching practice.
- Confident using data to evaluate student performance and adjust teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience teaching exam classes (e.g. GCSE, A-Level, BTEC or equivalent) in IT and/or Business.
- Familiarity with current educational technology tools and learning platforms.
- Experience contributing to curriculum development or departmental improvement projects.
- Ability to support or lead extra-curricular activities related to IT, coding, or enterprise.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or a closely related subject.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in teaching, assessment, or subject-specific areas (preferred).
- Additional certifications in programming, digital skills, or business-related disciplines (advantageous).
