We are working with a vibrant and ambitious secondary academy looking to appoint a Teacher of Science / Second in Charge to support the leadership of a forward-thinking department.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a strong classroom practitioner who is ready to step up. You will play a key role in shaping teaching and learning within Science, while still being hands-on and making a real difference to students every day.

The Role

You’ll be right at the heart of the department, supporting the Head of Science to:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that inspire curiosity and challenge all learners
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and curriculum planning
  • Support departmental improvement and drive student outcomes
  • Coach and collaborate with colleagues to strengthen teaching practice
  • Play an active role in enrichment, trips, and wider school life
  • Support key groups of students, including those with additional needs and Pupil Premium

You’ll also take on pastoral responsibilities, including form tutoring, and contribute to the wider life of the school.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has QTS and a Science-related degree
  • Is a strong classroom practitioner with high expectations
  • Is ready to take on additional responsibility within a department
  • Brings energy, positivity, and a genuine passion for Science
  • Is committed to improving outcomes for all students
  • Works well as part of a team and is keen to develop others
