We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking secondary school seeking an ambitious and driven Curriculum Leader of Science to lead and develop a high-performing department.

This is a key middle leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape curriculum, raise standards, and have a genuine whole-school impact. You will play a central role in driving teaching and learning, developing staff, and ensuring all students achieve strong outcomes in Science.

The Role

As Curriculum Leader, you will:

  • Lead the strategic direction of Science across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Design and implement a well-sequenced, ambitious curriculum
  • Monitor teaching and learning through lesson visits, work scrutiny, and student voice
  • Use assessment data to drive progress and close attainment gaps
  • Line manage, coach, and develop staff to improve practice
  • Ensure high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement
  • Manage resources and departmental budget effectively
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement and leadership priorities

You will also maintain a teaching timetable, delivering high-quality lessons that model excellent classroom practice.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a strong practitioner and emerging or experienced leader who:

  • Holds QTS and a relevant Science degree
  • Has a proven track record of strong outcomes across KS3 and KS4
  • Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and curriculum understanding
  • Has experience of leading or supporting within a department
  • Is confident using data to inform teaching, intervention, and strategy
  • Can inspire, challenge, and develop both students and colleagues
  • Has high expectations and a commitment to inclusive education
