MAT Recruitment is working with a dynamic and supportive secondary school in Darwen, Lancashire to appoint an exceptional Science Lead Practitioner.
This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding Science specialist to take the next step in their career, leading on high-quality teaching and learning across the Science department while supporting colleagues to further develop classroom practice.
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a strong track record of raising standards, improving outcomes and inspiring students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will play a key role in driving curriculum excellence, modelling best practice and supporting the continued development of a successful and ambitious Science team.
The Role
As Science Lead Practitioner, you will:
- Deliver consistently high-quality Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Lead by example as an outstanding classroom practitioner
- Support the development of teaching and learning within the Science department
- Coach, mentor and support colleagues to improve practice
- Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment and departmental improvement
- Use data effectively to identify gaps, raise attainment and improve student outcomes
- Promote high expectations, positive behaviour and a love of Science
- Work closely with senior and middle leaders to support whole-school priorities
The Successful Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:
- Holds QTS and has strong subject knowledge in Science
- Has a proven track record of excellent teaching and student progress
- Can inspire, challenge and motivate students of all abilities
- Has experience supporting or developing other teachers
- Is confident using assessment and data to inform teaching
- Demonstrates strong communication, organisation and leadership skills
- Is committed to continuous improvement and high standards
- Wants to make a meaningful impact within a supportive school environment
