Job Description

MAT Recruitment is supporting the appointment of an ambitious and talented Teacher of Science to join a secondary setting. This role is ideal for a passionate Science specialist who is committed to delivering engaging, well-structured lessons and securing strong outcomes for all pupils.

The Role
As a Teacher of Science, you will deliver high-quality teaching across the Science curriculum, ensuring that lessons are engaging, inclusive, and underpinned by strong subject knowledge. You will play an active role in contributing to a collaborative department, sharing best practice and supporting the consistent delivery of the curriculum. You will help create a positive learning environment with high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement, enabling pupils to develop confidence, curiosity, and a secure understanding of Science.

Key responsibilities include planning and delivering well-sequenced lessons, assessing and providing feedback that supports pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and intervention, and contributing to curriculum development and enrichment activities. You will work closely with colleagues to support pupils with a range of needs and contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

What We’re Looking For
You will be a qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge in Science and a proven ability to deliver effective classroom practice. You will be committed to continual professional development and reflective practice, with the ability to motivate pupils and build positive relationships. A strong understanding of assessment, progress, and inclusive teaching strategies is essential, alongside a commitment to safeguarding and removing barriers to learning for all pupils.

Why Apply?
This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive, values-led environment where professional development, collaboration, and high standards are prioritised. You will have access to coaching and CPD, the chance to refine your practice, and the opportunity to make a real difference to pupil outcomes in Science. This is an excellent opportunity for both early-career and experienced teachers looking to grow their impact.
