MAT Recruitment are working in partnership with a highly inclusive and nurturing special school within a values-led Multi-Academy Trust to appoint a Behaviour Support Worker.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference every day, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and sensory needs to re-engage with learning and develop the skills they need to thrive.
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:
Provide direct support to pupils in and out of class who need help with emotional or sensory regulation.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and positive behaviour.
Support pupils during periods of dysregulation, implementing agreed behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies.
Work closely with teaching and behaviour teams to deliver personalised support programmes.
Keep accurate records of progress, incidents, and interventions in line with policy.
Promote inclusion, equality and respect at all times, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Contribute to meetings, reviews and multi-agency discussions to support pupil development.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEMH, autism, or additional learning needs.
Skilled in behaviour management, de-escalation, and building positive relationships.
Emotionally intelligent, patient and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping pupils achieve their potential.
A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Relevant training such as Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice, or Autism Awareness would be advantageous, but not essential.
Be part of a compassionate and forward-thinking specialist team.
Work in a setting that prioritises inclusion, wellbeing and positive outcomes for all pupils.

This role involves regulated activity with children and is subject to enhanced DBS and reference checks in line with KCSIE 2025 and MAT Recruitment’s Safeguarding Policy. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
