MAT Recruitment are working in partnership with a highly inclusive and nurturing special school within a values-led Multi-Academy Trust to appoint a Behaviour Support Worker.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference every day, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and sensory needs to re-engage with learning and develop the skills they need to thrive.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:

• Provide direct support to pupils in and out of class who need help with emotional or sensory regulation.

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and positive behaviour.

• Support pupils during periods of dysregulation, implementing agreed behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies.

• Work closely with teaching and behaviour teams to deliver personalised support programmes.

• Keep accurate records of progress, incidents, and interventions in line with policy.

• Promote inclusion, equality and respect at all times, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.

• Contribute to meetings, reviews and multi-agency discussions to support pupil development.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEMH, autism, or additional learning needs.

• Skilled in behaviour management, de-escalation, and building positive relationships.

• Emotionally intelligent, patient and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping pupils achieve their potential.

• A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

• Committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Relevant training such as Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice, or Autism Awareness would be advantageous, but not essential.
