Role Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide timely and ongoing support for students to help them manage their behaviour effectively through guidance and structured intervention. This role plays a vital part in maintaining disruption-free learning environments and ensuring students who may be struggling receive the support they need. By providing proactive interventions, students are encouraged to thrive and develop into positive contributors to the school community.
Provide active support to staff in addressing challenging behaviour, reinforcing high expectations and consistent routines.
Deliver targeted interventions for students whose behaviour significantly affects their progress and attainment.
Develop and implement personalised support plans tailored to individual learning and behavioural needs.
Conduct regular reviews and updates of student progress and action plans.
Respond promptly to behaviour-related alerts from staff.
Carry out regular check-ins with designated year groups throughout the school day.
Monitor and analyse behaviour trends across individuals and groups to inform interventions.
Work to reduce barriers to learning and enhance student engagement and achievement.
Promote and uphold the safety and wellbeing of all students.
Encourage positive decision-making and raise student aspirations.
Review daily behaviour data and share relevant insights with appropriate staff.
Supervise and manage students placed in a designated support room following removal from class.
Maintain a calm and focused environment in the support room.
Uphold high standards of behaviour in line with school policy.
Support students in reflecting on behaviour and making improved future choices.
Record and monitor attendance of students in the support room.
Ensure students have access to required learning materials.
Collaborate with pastoral leaders and senior staff to identify trends and tailor support.
Assist in the successful reintegration of students back into mainstream lessons.
Provide mentoring to individual students as needed.
Encourage, challenge, and empower students to adopt positive behaviours and attitudes.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and the wellbeing of all young people.
Maintain a flexible approach to support the effective delivery of services and uphold the reputation of the organisation.
Work in alignment with the policies and procedures of the school or trust.
Observe confidentiality requirements at all times.
Adhere to professional standards and values including integrity, teamwork, inclusion, and accountability.
Understand and apply the organisation's equal opportunities policies and relevant legislation within all aspects of the role.
Take reasonable care for personal health and safety and that of others in the workplace.
Cooperate with the organisation to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Follow safeguarding and child protection policies to promote the welfare of children and vulnerable individuals.
Promptly report any safeguarding concerns encountered during the course of duties.
This post requires a valid Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and active registration with the DBS Update Service.
