We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head of ICT to join a progressive school in Huddersfield, on a full-time and permanent basis, from January 2025. The successful candidate will teach a timetable of ICT and Computer Science across the age and ability range of the academy, delivering agreed schemes of work, and leading and managing staff and resources in the Faculty.
Your role as Head of ICT is to:
- Lead the ICT and Computer Science team.
- Raise and maintain standards across the faculty, as well as raising the profile of the faculty within the academy.
- Plan high-quality lessons and lead the delivery of consistently good and outstanding teaching and learning opportunities.
- Carry out the day-to-day duties of a classroom teacher.
- Strategically plan for the development of the curriculum, teaching practices, and student progress within the department, demonstrating the impact of these initiatives on learning and outcomes.
- Create an engaging environment for learners of all abilities and narrow gaps in achievement across all groups of learners.
To narrow the gaps in the achievement of all groups of learners, you will:
- Implement and manage an appropriate assessment strategy.
- Ensure a curriculum that facilitates the progress of all learners.
- Provide responsive interventions across ICT and Computer Science to support student success.
As part of an ongoing review and monitoring of student progress, your three core roles within the faculty will be:
- Making judgments about the standards of students’ achievement.
- Evaluating all aspects of teaching and learning and setting priorities for improvement across the faculty.
- Leading sustainable improvement by identifying targets for improvement, developing strategies to achieve these targets, and quality assuring the delivery of the curriculum.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player who narrows the gaps in the achievement of all groups of learners through implementing high-quality teaching which directly impacts student progress. This includes ensuring a curriculum that facilitates the progress of all learners and supports responsive interventions across the subject.
