This is a rewarding opportunity for a resilient, adaptable teacher with the ability to deliver engaging practical lessons, ideally including multi-skills and woodwork. You will support young people with social, emotional and mental health needs to re-engage with education, develop confidence and build valuable practical skills.

The role

As a Technology Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, practical Technology lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Teach practical multi-skills, woodwork and related activities where appropriate.
  • Adapt learning to support pupils with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs and barriers to mainstream education.
  • Create a safe, structured and inclusive workshop or classroom environment.
  • Establish clear routines, positive relationships and high expectations.
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation, engagement, progress and personal development.
  • Assess and monitor progress, using this to inform future planning.
  • Work closely with pastoral, SEND and safeguarding colleagues, parents, carers and external professionals.
  • Ensure all practical lessons follow relevant health and safety requirements.

The successful candidate

You will ideally have:

  • QTS or a relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Technology, Design Technology, practical multi-skills, woodwork or a related subject.
  • The ability to deliver safe, engaging and appropriately differentiated practical lessons.

  • A calm, patient and relationship-led approach.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour, or a genuine interest in developing within specialist education.

Experience in a specialist SEMH setting, alternative provision, PRU or behaviour provision would be advantageous, although teachers with transferable experience are encouraged to apply.
